A bit about me
My name's Susan Spencer, and Animals have always been my passion
I’ve bred miniature pigs and observed them in the wild in the African bush for nearly 20 years. I’ve given hundreds of people advice about their pigs, and have learnt what people need to know to live happily with them. I’ve trained them and other animals professionally, including thousands of dogs who I rescued and re-homed, and am very good at it! (I train a pig to sit in two minutes: I train a dog to do obedience or tracking in 20 minutes.)
I have a registered animal rescue scheme, Pet Link-up, run with my own money, and at the moment we are helping to improve the lot of donkies used for pulling carts in townships.
I also breed Olderhill German Shepherds, large working dogs originating from the german army dogs used in the second world war, and selected for real police work in England.
I've now started writing books to share my knowledge.
A bit about my pigs
Sheamus, a male , at 17 months Midge at about 2 1/2 years (and much heavier than she looks!)
Midge, mature at 4 years, with 6 week old babies (and a dairy cow udder!) Photo taken March 2013
Here's Pixy, at about 2 years and 3 1/2 years (photos taken March 2011 and August 2012). She's now about 5 years old (Feb 2014) and is still the same size as she was when I held her on my quad bike.
The piggy I love the most: Pumpkin at about 4 mths (she was hand-reared and so was small for her age) and at about 16mths old (photos taken September 2012 and June 2013). She's now 2 years old and I think I'm going to let her have her first babies soon.
(I'm still busy with this page - please check it again later!)
